Journalism, Photography and Cinematography

Journalism is a form of writing that tells people about things that really happened, but that they might not have known about already. It is about journaling events in order to chronicle the happenings within a society or region or within a community or society.

The most important characteristic shared by good journalists is curiosity. Good journalists love to read or observe and want to find out as much as they can about the world around them.

Journalism comes in several different forms: i.e news, opinion, reporting etc.

Students are encouraged to write about the events that take place in the school from time to time. Students interview their colleagues and teachers for opinion on current topics and make a feature of the information gathered. They also observe news readers and watch debates conducted by popular reporters on television. They come together and read reports from newspapers from time to time and annotate documents. News reading is done at the assembly daily in order to make the students aware of the current affairs and keep them updated. Industry experts from the print media are invited to share their knowledge and experience from time to time. The school works in collaboration with TIMES NIE- a newspaper for the students , to enhance their knowledge of language, which prints the reports of the various activities of the school.

Skills of photography and cinematography are also imparted to children so as to help them document happenings pictorially and cinematically. Workshops have been conducted with children making and uploading documentaries and interviews to youtube.
